Juniperus drupacea in the Peloponnese (Greece).
Trip report and range map, with notes on phenology,
phylogeny, palaeontology, history, types and use ............................................................. 5
D. Mаеrki & M.P. Frankis
Abstract : During three successive trips to the Peloponnese, new observations were carried out
on Juniperus drupacea, an uncommon species of juniper unique among this genus with its
cones characteristics. An updated range map is proposed based on these observations as well as
notes on phenology, physiology, history, types and use.
Comparison of three Cupressus species seedlings ...................................................... 35
D. Mаеrki
Abstract : Seedlings of Cupressus sempervirens, Cupressus dupreziana and Cupressus torulosa
about eight-ten months old are compared. Already at this early stage of their development, they
can be distinguished and identified quite well.
Morphology and anatomy of pollen cones and pollen in
Podocarpus gnidioides Carrière (Podocarpaceae, Coniferales) ................................. 36
V.M. Dörken & H. Nimsch
Abstract : Podocarpus gnidioides is one of the rarest Podocarpus species. Its male reproductive
structures – pollen cones and pollen – were investigated with classical paraffin technique and
SEM. Despite the isolated systematic position of Podocarpus gnidioides among the other New
Caledonian Podocarps, it shows no features that are exclusively developed in its pollen cones
and pollen. The pollen cones and pollen belong to the smallest ones among recent Podocarpus
species. The pollen is presented secondary.
This Bulletin is edited by the Cupressus Conservation Project, a non-profit organisation based in Geneva, Switzerland. It
deals mainly with Cupressus species, but accepts manuscripts on other conifer species, as well as on the phylogeny and the
evolution of gymnosperms. Emphasis is given to threatened and endangered taxa. Manuscripts are accepted in the following
languages : English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Russian. The Bulletin is peer reviewed.
